Caring for Pets
Creating Happy, Healthy Lives

Dedicated to providing expert pet care with love, trust, and personalized attention for every furry companion

Scott Dubato, DVM

I absolutely love and have a passion for caring for animals. While working for my father as a vet assistant in the 1990's, I absolutely fell in love with how the body works. It was fascinating to me watching my father and his associate veterinarians piece together the puzzle of a sick animal who couldn't speak for themselves. I also admired him as a person in his community. Being a veterinarian also afforded him the ability to care for his family, volunteer his time in the community, donate both his time and money to charities, and work with amazing organizations like Rotary. Becoming a veterinarian was what I was undeniably passionate about, and would afford me the ability to become a productive human being, starting within my own home, and within my community. I completed my Bachelors in Biology at Stony Brook University, while working with my father as a vet assistant. I also worked at 2 other general practices, Animal Emergency services, and worked directly with a veterinary internal medicine specialist to broaden my experience in the field. I was accepted into Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 where I completed my 3 years of academia, followed by completing a one-year clinical rotation at Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine. While at Purdue I met my future wife, who is also a veterinarian. After graduating in 2008 with honors, I started my career working as an ER vet at the East End Veterinary Emergency and Specialty center in Riverhead. After a year as an ER veterinarian, I began working in general practice splitting my time between Amityville, Centereach and working with my father in Wading River. After a few years I transitioned to the WRVH full time, and in 2014 I purchased the practice from my father.

Along with two teenage kids, my wife and I have two dogs, JT and Penny. JT is a failed guide dog, and Penny is a rescue from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria in 2017. In my free time I enjoy fishing, hiking, golf, and anything outdoors. Also to stay active I have been playing Deck Hockey in an adult men’s leagues for over a decade.

Beth Rottner, DVM

A New York state native, Dr Rottner is a graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and has worked in veterinary practices since a teenager. She holds a BA Cum Laude in Anthropology (Archaeology) from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, where she developed a deeper love and appreciation for the human-animal bond throughout our shared history. Dr Rottner has a special interest in not only companion animal medicine, but wildlife medicine, zoonotic disease, and veterinary forensics as well. She has given lectures at state conferences and local colleges on wildlife medicine and public education regarding animal health. While many she works with recognize her as an utterly devoted cat mum, she is also an avid nature lover and “bird nerd” who likes to spend time outdoors gardening and birding.

Our Admin Team

I’m Donna, the Hospital Manager. I grew up in Bayside, Queens. After high school I went to medical secretarial school and worked in various specialties of the human medical field.

With my medical background, and since I’ve always had a passion and love for animals, I decided to enter the veterinary field. I started at Bide-A-Wee cleaning kennels and went on to manage a veterinary office for several years. After that I worked many years for a major pet products company as their Companion Animal products supervisor before coming to work for Wading River Veterinary. Here I started as a receptionist and am now the hospital manager. My husband and I have been homeowners in the Shirley area for 40+ years where we’ve shared our home with many pets; currently 2 indoor and several outdoor cats. Since my husband retired from the maritime field he decided to follow me into the pet care field. Together we operate a pet B&B, boarding people’s pets in a family atmosphere.

My name is McKayla and I am a receptionist here. I enjoy talking with clients and meeting their furry family members when they come in each day! I have two cats of my own, Jupiter and Jello, and three family dogs, Liberty, Gracie, and Takeo. Outside of work, I am a student pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting and finance, and a self-described coffee enthusiast. I enjoy taking care of my plants, diamond art paint-by-numbers, and fiber crafts like embroidery and macramé.

My name is Brittany, I am a receptionist at Wading River Veterinary. Ever since I was young I had a passion for animals, because I grew up with pets. I graduated from Eastern Suffolk Boces and received a two year certificate in animal sciences. My plan for the future is to become a Veterinary Technician or a K9 Trainer. My hobbies include music, spending time with friends and I enjoy going to the beach.

My name is Katelyn, I am a receptionist at Wading River Vet Hospital. I have had a deep love of animals since I was a little girl, and have always wanted a career with them – especially dogs and cats, which have always been my favorites. Being a part of a practice that cares so deeply about these animals, is so special and I truly love being a part of such a wonderful team. In my spare time, one of my favorite hobbies is reading.

Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m currently finishing my last semester of the Penn Foster program to earn my veterinary technician license. I work in general practice as well as emergency medicine and recently became CPR certified for your furry friends. At home, I have a cat named Ellie, who craves attention and belly rubs, and my 17yr old dog, Fred, who acts like a grumpy old man. When I’m not studying or spending time with my pets, I enjoy practicing yoga and Pilates—activities that help me stay centered and relaxed. I’m excited to continue my journey in the veterinary field and to make a difference in the lives of animals.

Hi my name’s Eliana. I usually go by Ellie. I grew up in a house full of golden retrievers and that’s what started my passion for caring for animals. When I was in middle school my parents bred golden retrievers. This experience gave me a glimpse into the field I want to dedicate myself to. I’m an aspiring veterinarian. I have graduated from Suffolk County Community College in January with a degree in Liberal Arts and will continue my stride to Vet school. I have worked in vet med for 3 years as an assistant. I spend my time outside of work enjoying and caring for my animal clan. I currently have 3 goldens, 5 cats, 2 painted turtles and a hermit crab. In addition I am fostering a 5 week old kitten.

My name is Fernanda. I’ve been a dedicated veterinary assistant with a passion for animal care and client support for the last four years. I’m always eager to learn and grow in the field It’s been my dream to become a veterinarian, so I am excited to say I will be attending veterinary school this upcoming fall. I hope to obtain my surgical board certification and work in a specialized emergency facility. When I’m not working I love going out to the city, seeing my friends and family, playing sports, and traveling as often as possible. I look forward to seeing you and your pets at our hospital!
